Hair Transplant Scar Revision

What is Hair Transplant Scar Revision

A scar revision for a hair transplant patient is the the procedure to minimize and diminish the appearance of the scars that was caused by strip harvesting surgical method. The doctor who performs the hair transplantation surgery will notify the patients about the scarring effect caused by the procedure.

Of course, there are plenty of ways that can be used to correct the scarring. It can be done using surgical procedures such as trichophytic closure, follicular unit extraction or FUE, or even Botox injections.

The easiest way, which is also the most common one, to get rid of most of the scars in the donor areas is by removing the scar tissue and correcting the scarred areas. By using just this method, your surgeon will be able to help to decrease the visibility of the scars drastically. If the results are still not satisfactory, your doctor can also choose to use a surgical technique known as the trichophytic closure, which is a methods that will allow the hair follicles to grow hair in the scarred area, which does not grow any hair. This will greatly diminish the visibility of the scarring and make your hair look better than normal.

There is still another surgical procedure that can be used to treat hair transplant scar. This technique is known as the follicular unit extraction, or FUE. This is a process in which the hair follicles are chosen and extracted from the donor area without removing any strip of tissue, which will ensure low to zero scarring risk. This technique allows the scarred area on the scalp to be filled with hair follicles. When the hair grows back, it will make it almost impossible to spot any differences.

The truth is during the first few months or years after you have received a hair transplant, your scars might not be that visible. But as time passes by, and the skin of your scalp starts to lose its flexibility and stretch to a greater degree, the effect of the scarring will become much more obvious, since the scarred area has, by now, greatly increased. To deal with this, your hair transplant surgeon can now try Botox injections to  try to solve this problem.

This method works solely because Botox has the ability to prevent excessive stretching, which will of course help to prevent your scarred areas to enlarge and widen. While this technique shows a lot of promising signs, thus far there are not authoritative proofs to back this method up. There is no dependable recommendation on how much amount of botox should be used.

When you find that the hair transplant scars are giving you too much problem, you should consult with your doctor or hair transplant surgeon. He will diagnose your situation accordingly and make proper recommendations on how you should proceed.
